We understand the challenges because we've been there
We've all been there: it's 11 PM the night before a big trip, and you're frantically texting "Wait, who's bringing the tent?" You're toggling between five different apps—a spreadsheet for gear, a group chat for updates, a weather app, a mapping tool, and a calculator for splitting costs. Someone forgot the permits. The route changed but half the group didn't see the message. And you still don't know if anyone packed a water filter.
Sound familiar? That's because we've lived it. Every. Single. Time.
TrailSync was born out of frustration on a rainy night in a tent, when we realized we'd packed three sleeping pads but forgot the stove. We'd spent more time coordinating the trip than actually enjoying the trail. There had to be a better way.
As avid hikers and backpackers, we know that the magic of the backcountry shouldn't be overshadowed by planning chaos. Group trips should be about shared sunrises from mountain peaks, campfire stories, and pushing each other to explore new trails—not about last-minute gear panic or budget spreadsheets that somehow still don't add up.
So we built TrailSync: the app we wish we'd had on every trip.
TrailSync isn't a generic trip planner adapted for hiking. It's purpose-built for group backpacking trips, with features that solve the specific problems hikers face:
Not just roads and highways—we show actual trails, elevation profiles, and terrain data. Because knowing the difference between "5 miles" on flat ground and "5 miles" with 3,000 feet of gain matters.
Track who's bringing what, down to the individual item. See pack weights. Never show up with three tents and no water filter again. We know the gear list is the difference between a great trip and a disaster.
Pre-loaded with actual freeze-dried and dehydrated meal options. Track calories per day (because you need more than you think). Filter by dietary restrictions. Plan like a pro.
Permits, gas, food, gear rentals—it all adds up. We track expenses and automatically calculate who owes whom. Split the costs fairly and move on to planning the next adventure.
Every feature solves a real problem we've encountered in the backcountry. No fluff. No unnecessary complexity. Just the tools you need to get your crew in sync.
We built TrailSync with collaboration at its core. When someone updates the route, everyone sees it instantly. When gear gets assigned, the whole group knows who's responsible for what. When the weather forecast changes three days before departure, everyone gets the same information at the same time.
No more "I didn't see that text." No more version control nightmares with outdated spreadsheets. Just one source of truth that keeps everyone synchronized.
As hikers, we know that preparation saves lives. TrailSync helps you plan thoroughly: accurate elevation data, weather forecasts, emergency contact information, and detailed route planning. We give you the tools to make informed decisions.
That said, TrailSync is a planning tool—not a substitute for experience, proper training, or common sense. Always carry physical maps, check trail conditions, and know your limits. The backcountry demands respect, and we take that seriously.
TrailSync is currently in beta, and we're actively developing new features based on real feedback from hikers like you. We're adding offline capability for true backcountry use, GPX import/export for route sharing, and enhanced safety features like live location sharing (opt-in, because we respect your privacy).
But we'll never lose sight of what matters: making group trip planning simple, collaborative, and dare we say... enjoyable. So you can spend less time coordinating and more time on the trail.
We're looking for hikers, backpackers, and outdoor enthusiasts to help us test TrailSync. Your feedback will directly shape the app that thousands of adventurers will use to plan their trips.
